As you may already know, California Roll is the one of most popular sushi
in USA because it was born in USA for letting sushi more popular in USA. I don’t
know who first cooked and named this sushi. Anyway this sushi was introduced
to spread sushi in USA so it is easy to eat for anyone who eats sushi first
time. Because the all ingredients are vegetable and cooked ones, no raw fish
is used. I’m Japanese and I like raw fish sushi very much but I like this type
of sushi, too.

Japanese Sake

I like Sake and when I was still in Japan, I used to drink sake often at
“Izakaya” restaurants or sushi restaurants.

Sometime Sake is called as “rice wine” in USA and I often found it in a corner
of wine at grocery stores. I don’t know why it is treated as wine. Maybe the
sake is still not as popular like as wine and only a few kinds of sake are dealt
in the USA so they display sake at the wine corner instead to create a space
for a few quantities sake.

Anyway I like sake and it matches great with sashimi and sushi. Especially
chilled high quality sake is great with these foods. I like to eat fresh yellow
tail, flounder, red snapper or grouper with chilled quality sake at the restaurants
I just mentioned above. And I often had problems of hung over next morning because
they are too good for me to save drinking and eating.

By the way do you know which ones is high quality sake? Daiginjo, Ginjo and
Junmaishu. These are types of high quality

sake. If you like sake and want to
try high quality one, please look for these types of sake. And most of Japanese
restaurants of USA they treat these quality sake, so just ask them for these
sake types when you go to Japanese restaurants.Сувенириикони

Sushi Words

The sushi related words we use in USA are of course unfamiliar for most of the people in USA. But do you know the sushi related words are also a little bit special in Japan.

For example; we call rice as â€œKOMEâ€ in Japan but in sushi restaurants of Japan they call it â€œSHARIâ€. And we call soy sauce as â€œSHOYUâ€ in Japan but in sushi restaurants of Japan they call it â€œMURASAKIâ€. And even Japanese people, sometimes we donâ€™t know these special sushi words.

Tekka

Do you know what is “Tekka”?

Tekka is a kind of roll sushi and the precise name is “Tekka-Maki”.

Usually we call it just “Tekka” in Japan.

Tekka is a Hosomaki type roll sushi and uncooked tuna is inside of the roll. The taste is great, just dip the pieces of tekka in soy sauce a little then eat it.
So if you have a chance to visit Japan, try some sushi restaurants and order to â€œItamaeâ€ (this means sushi chef) by just saying one word â€œTekkaâ€. I think the Itamae would be surprised if a foreign people order with the word.
